The covid 19 quarantine inspired and I wrote a proposal to the State of California and was awarded a $15,000 grant to produce plein aire oil paintings of State Campgrounds in beautiful locales.and Camp at the many wonderful State parks in southern California. This affording me observational opportunity for capturing the moment through plein air painting. I love the bright and vibrant colors at the shoreline.

Background
Jo Ann Fahlgren Mauck was born in a small town in southern Oregon and began drawing at a very early age. In fact, drawing and painting has been her lifelong obsession. She began painting from observation in high school and then later, at the University of Oregon received her BFA in painting and printmaking. During her University time, she was assistant graphics editor for the Oregon Daily Emerald. She provided editorial illustration for the paper.
After a career as a commercial illustrator and airbrush artist/ designer, she returns to the pursuit of fine art painting. Recently, she has been hired to paint live at events, on stage in front of large audiences for companies such as Apple, Mc Caffe, The Hotel Coronado and the New York Islanders in their Arene.
